Steven Cook joined Joseph Michael’s in September. It feels like he’s been here his whole life! He embodies the talent, charisma, professionalism and passion that we value so much. And, know not to let go when we find it. Steven has an undeniable compassion that draws you in and makes everyone around him feel comfortable and taken care of. Part of that comfort comes from knowing that you are in the hands of a very talented stylist. Steven graduated from Paul Mitchell the School for Cosmetology in San Diego in 2007. He has spent most of his career in Chicago, working at top boutique salons in the South Loop. Steven doesn’t have one favorite approach when he does hair. He loves it all- from precision cutting to hair painting, balayage and special occasion styles. He is also Brazilian Blowout certified and can smooth a mane to silky perfection.

When he’s not using hair as his canvas, Steven is most likely indulging in some other version of his art. Before his career in cosmetology, Steven was already an artist. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago and specializes in oil on canvas. Currently, he is writing and illustrating graphic novels. When he is not visiting a museum, theater or gallery, you can probably find him doing yoga, rollerblading or running. Or, maybe at home in his historic house in Bronzeville, enjoying all the benefits of an “accountant turned professional chef” husband. Yes, Steven is eclectic. We love that! We’re pretty sure you will, too.

Steven works Wednesday through Saturday.
Steven’s women’s haircuts are $85 and men $55. His colors start at $80 and highlights from $120.
