For the past few years, the carpal tunnel in my wrist indicated the trend…super-straight, overly tamed locks. Alas, as fashion moves forward (or back around, again) so do we. Today it’s all about the “beachy” soft wave and curl; an effortless look that isn’t really all that effortless for a lot of us. Surf sprays and texture builders, along with the comeback of the mousse , are lining the retail shelves. It’s official, big hair is back. Not your mom’s beehive or grandma’s roller-set, either. We have it harder this trend-time around because not only do we have to have volume, and curl, and movement….now it has to look natural, too. So, how do we get an effortless just off the beach-just got out of bed-just ran my fingers through it and this is what I got, look? Honestly, it might take some effort.
Industry leader Nick Arrojo has handed us the solution with his American Wave Perm. I was apprehensive about trying a new perm that claimed to be different. Yet, I was intrigued when I discovered one of the points of difference for the American Wave is the flexible Bendy Rollers and unique rolling pattern for this “new perm.” More research told me the American Wave really is different with an Ammonia-Thio-Free solution that is both less damaging and less permanent (because who really wants a hairstyle you have to cut off to get rid of, anyway?) Being a tad skeptical and yes, a perfectionist, I decided to up the anti and chose a model (guinea pig) with baby-fine, bleach-highlighted hair (aka un-permable by traditional standards.) She wanted body and texture. I wanted to test the product. I kept one hand with fingers crossed and the other one handy with scissors– just in case…
Low and behold, the American Wave Perm superseded my challenge and far exceeded my expectations! I am thrilled to announce my model loves her hair and I am impressed with the advanced-conditioning feel, shine and bounce that this new product gave her formerly fine and dull hair. So there it is… the American Wave Perm provides softer waves and curls that last a few months before the furls gradually begin to un-furl.
Yes, silky smooth is always sleek and sophisticated, but surfin’ sassy waves are sexy, too. Now, no matter what your hair type, you can have them! I am loving the new American Wave perm and invite you to try it.
